The House of the Tradesman Andonovic
A gorgeous architectonic achievement constructed between the two world wars, in French neoclassicist style. The owner of the buildings was the well known Nis tradesman Andon Andonovic, who was one of the most reputable importers of clothes from Italy, France, England, Greece, and other countries.
The building looks like a palace – it has two floors, a balcony spanning the whole floor, and a wonderful wrought-iron fence. The entire façade is covered with bas relief. Pilasters and capitals stand out, along with a sophisticated figure of a naked man holding a bag, a token of wealth, in one hand, and a scepter, a token of power, in the other. Both symbolized of a rich family house.
